Best wishes as owners of Chart House to retire
THE owners of one of Dingle’s most successful restaurants have decided it is time to hang up their aprons, in a move that has taken the town by surprise.
The owners of the Chart House restaurant, Jim and Carmel Mc Carthy, are to retire from the business after 27 years of stewardship. The restaurant at the edge of Dingle town has been a favourite eating place for locals and visitors alike with a reputation for quality food, excellent service and value for money.
One of a small group of top end restaurants in Dingle, the Chart House has consistently won the Michelin Guide’s ‘Bib Gourmand’ award, which is given to establishments that provide very high quality food at a reasonable price.
Following the announcement this week that the Chart House is closing down, the restaurant’s mailbox was full with hundreds of messages from people who had experienced the hospitality that set the Chart House apart.
Jim admits that it is hard not to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of appreciation.
“The success was due to the excellent team of people that worked there,” he said. “The time has come for us to take a different direction and we look forward to seeing a bright future for the Chart House with someone else at the helm.”
“The restaurant is fully equipped and ready for someone to move in and start straight away,” he added.
Jim is willing to help new owners get up and running, giving them the benefit of his 27 years’ experience running the highly successful restaurant.
Jim himself, who has dedicated all his time and effort for almost three decades to the running of the business, will now pursue other areas of interest.
Mindful of voucher holders Jim has established an immediate refund system and a notice on the restaurant’s website asks people to return vouchers, or a printout of e-vouchers by post to The Chart House Restaurant, Dingle V92 X859, and to include full bank details.
