ST BRENDAN’S AC

Busy week ahead for St Brendan’s AC. On Saturday the Kerry Athletics Sportshall Games will be held in MTU and the club has a big squad entered.

On Saturday and Sunday, the club has another squad in action in the juvenile All Ireland indoor championsh­ips in TUS Athlone in a variety of jumps, runs and walks. Training for juveniles continues this Wednesday in the ARC from 6pm and for adults on Monday, Thursday and Sunday in a variety of venues, as well as every week morning at 6.30am in the ARC.

Well done to our three participan­ts in three County Cross Country competitio­n last Monday in sunny Beaufort. U12 Shauna Enright 3rd, Clara Danagher and Michael Fitzgerald. Shauna will now train with Kerry Community Games and form a team and has qualified for National finals in May. Well done everyone great experience. The annual county clean up takes place this Saturday, April 6th and everybody is encouraged to collect any rubbish along the sides of the roads in their area and wearing reflective vests is essential to help ensure safety from passing traffic.

SCOIL NAOMH ERC

It was wonderful to have Solar Panels installed at Kilmoyley N.S. funded by the Government’s ‘Solar for Schools’ programme.The scheme will assist the school in reducing energy costs and carbon footprint as part of the response to meeting the 2030 and 2050 Climate Action Plan targets for the School’s sector.

The solar PV panels in the school will also be connected to the electricit­y grid, so that the school can generate income by powering other homes and businesses with clean energy when schools are closed at weekends and during school holidays.Thank you to Energywise who installed the panels.

Split the Bucket

This was a very competitiv­e game in the first half with both sides giving their all. Kilmoyley had to withstand continuous attacks but managed to avoid conceding a goal.

Up front for Kilmoyley, Oisin Murphy pounced on a breaking ball to raise the green flag for his side. The second half was dominated by Killmoyley as they made the most of the wind advantage to leave the final score Kilmoyley 3.15 St. Brendans 1.09.

SENIORS

Kilmoyley’s County league tie away to Lixnaw was postponed at the weekend due to an unplayable pitch.

CILLARD FÉILE NA GAEL

Hard luck to the Féile team who lost out to Tralee Parnells in the first round of the competitio­n on Friday at the ARC. The club had a strong representa­tion on the County u16 team that put up a great performanc­e against Limerick’s B team - Nicole Power, Máire O’Connor, Rachael Lennon, Kate Maunsell, Sine Sheehy, Sarah Jane Feehan, Aoibhinn Flaherty and Hayley Fitzgerald.Cillard was also strongly represente­d on the senior team, who despite a commendabl­e draw against Down at Mountcolli­ns on Saturday were unfortunat­ely relegated from division 1B of the league.

Well done to Ciara O’Sullivan, Roisín Quinn, Ruth O’Connor, Norette Casey, Sarah Walsh, Clodagh Walsh, Eilish Harrington, Niamh Quinn and Amy McCarthy while Clanmauric­e’s Laura Collins also played.

TIDY TOWNS TAKING PART IN COUNTY CLEAN UP THIS SATURDAY

The Knocknagos­hel Tidy Towns group will be taking part in the county clean up on this Saturday the 6th April, It would be great to try get every road in the parish covered if you have a hour or 2 to spare on the day.

Bags will be available to be collected from the community laundry in Knocknagos­hel this Thursday and Friday from 9am to 2pm, please let us know on 087-9714255 what roads you can collect rubbish on. The full red county clean up bags can be left at the Football field and at Headley’s bridge in Knocknagos­hel and at the community garden in the village.
