ST BRENDAN’S AC

Busy week ahead for St Brendan’s AC. On Saturday the Kerry Athletics Sportshall Games will be held in MTU and the club has a big squad entered.

On Saturday and Sunday, the club has another squad in action in the juvenile All Ireland indoor championships in TUS Athlone in a variety of jumps, runs and walks. Training for juveniles continues this Wednesday in the ARC from 6pm and for adults on Monday, Thursday and Sunday in a variety of venues, as well as every week morning at 6.30am in the ARC.

CROSS COUNTRY

Well done to our three participants in three County Cross Country competition last Monday in sunny Beaufort. U12 Shauna Enright 3rd, Clara Danagher and Michael Fitzgerald. Shauna will now train with Kerry Community Games and form a team and has qualified for National finals in May. Well done everyone great experience. Good luck at National finals Shauna, a first time experience for Shauna.

COUNTY CLEAN UP

The annual county clean up takes place this Saturday, April 6th and everybody is encouraged to collect any rubbish along the sides of the roads in their area and wearing reflective vests is essential to help ensure safety from passing traffic.

BIG BIRTHDAY BASH

Our local raconteur, Billy Buckley, is having his 60th birthday party celebrations on next Saturday night, April 6th at McCarthy’s bar at the cross and everybody is welcome to attend the celebrations and merriment.

In recent times scammers are targeting members of the public on WhatsApp looking to sell fake investments. Great care is needed with any of these messages and they should not be replied to but simply deleted.

FINUGE 500: Congratulations to Tony Sparks of Gortnaminsh who won our €500 pot for March. Our winner of the two tickets for the Irish National in Fairyhouse on Easter Monday, compliments of Healy Racing Listowel, was Mary Curran, Lixnaw. COMMUNITY CARE LOTTO

There was no winner of the €10,000 jackpot for the 25th of March 2024. Numbers drawn by Paudie Godley were 8,9,19,21. The €50 winner was Christy Griffin, Baltovin and the two €30 winners were Paddy Joe O’Connor, Kilcooley and Killian O’Halloran, Kilmoyley.

SCOIL NAOMH ERC

It was wonderful to have Solar Panels installed at Kilmoyley N.S. funded by the Government’s ‘Solar for Schools’ programme.The scheme will assist the school in reducing energy costs and carbon footprint as part of the response to meeting the 2030 and 2050 Climate Action Plan targets for the School’s sector.

The solar PV panels in the school will also be connected to the electricity grid, so that the school can generate income by powering other homes and businesses with clean energy when schools are closed at weekends and during school holidays.Thank you to Energywise who installed the panels.

Split the Bucket

The winner of our Split the Bucket draw was JJ Young with a jackpot of €185. The winning envelope was drawn by John B O’Halloran. The winners of the Easter eggs were Conor Coghlan, Gavin O’Connor & Eilín Loibhéad. The next draw will be held on Friday, 12th April.

Thank you for your continued support of our juvenile club.Féile na GaelWell done to our u15 team who put up another good performance in the competition against St. Brendans on Sunday at the ARC, Ardfert.

This was a very competitive game in the first half with both sides giving their all. Kilmoyley had to withstand continuous attacks but managed to avoid conceding a goal.

Up front for Kilmoyley, Oisin Murphy pounced on a breaking ball to raise the green flag for his side. The second half was dominated by Killmoyley as they made the most of the wind advantage to leave the final score Kilmoyley 3.15 St. Brendans 1.09.

SENIORS

Kilmoyley’s County league tie away to Lixnaw was postponed at the weekend due to an unplayable pitch.

CILLARD FÉILE NA GAEL

Hard luck to the Féile team who lost out to Tralee Parnells in the first round of the competition on Friday at the ARC. The club had a strong representation on the County u16 team that put up a great performance against Limerick’s B team - Nicole Power, Máire O’Connor, Rachael Lennon, Kate Maunsell, Sine Sheehy, Sarah Jane Feehan, Aoibhinn Flaherty and Hayley Fitzgerald.Cillard was also strongly represented on the senior team, who despite a commendable draw against Down at Mountcollins on Saturday were unfortunately relegated from division 1B of the league.

Well done to Ciara O’Sullivan, Roisín Quinn, Ruth O’Connor, Norette Casey, Sarah Walsh, Clodagh Walsh, Eilish Harrington, Niamh Quinn and Amy McCarthy while Clanmaurice’s Laura Collins also played.

DEATHS

DEATH has occurred of Catherine Dalton (née McMahon), Rahavanig, Ballybunion and late of Gortaglanna, Kilmorna, on March 28th, 2024. Predeceased by her husband Paddy, brother Tom and her parents Danny and Nora. Loving mother of Michael, Maggie, Nora and Dan, also survived by her brothers Dan and Jim, sisters Nora, Mary and Eileen, sons-inlaw Ollie and Ciarán, Dan’s partner Tanya, grandchildren Paddy, Caitlín, Caoimhe, Olivia and Aoife, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces. Requiem Mass for Catherine celebrated at St. John’s Church, Ballybunion, on Monday morning April 1st at 10.45 am, followed by burial afterwards in Killehenny Cemetery, Ballybunion.

DEATH has taken place of Bridie Scanlon (née Sheehan), Ballygrennan, Listowel, on March 22nd, 2024. Wife of the late Pat and mother of the late Padraig. Bridie will be sadly missed by her sister Peggy, sisters-in-law Eileen and Joan, nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family.

Requiem Mass for Bridie being celebrated at Listowel Church on Wednesday, followed by burial afterwards in St. John Paul II Cemetery, Ballybunion Road, Listowel.

Fran Leahy originally from New St., Abbeyfeale and who has gone out to help in the schools that Fr. Tim Galvin set up, is returning again in May for a 6 month term. She will be covering all her expenses herself but her friends are planning to hold a coffee morning on Saturday, April 13 from 11am 2pm in St. Ita’s Day Care Centre to raise funds for the running of the schools. TIDY TOWNS TAKING PART IN COUNTY CLEAN UP THIS SATURDAY

The Knocknagoshel Tidy Towns group will be taking part in the county clean up on this Saturday the 6th April, It would be great to try get every road in the parish covered if you have a hour or 2 to spare on the day.

Bags will be available to be collected from the community laundry in Knocknagoshel this Thursday and Friday from 9am to 2pm, please let us know on 087-9714255 what roads you can collect rubbish on. The full red county clean up bags can be left at the Football field and at Headley’s bridge in Knocknagoshel and at the community garden in the village.
