EASTER CEREMONIES

This year unlike last year, history was made when we celebrated The Good Friday Passion in St. Mary’s Church, Tarbert. In the absence of an officiating priest the ceremonies at 3pm and 8pm were laity led and organised by Declan, Caroline and Sacristan James with some 12 parishioners taking part in the procession and readings. Youngest participant was 10 years old Kyle Mulvihill as Cross bearer. Many in attendance felt that this year’s ceremony with laity participation was more meaningful than in previous years.

On Saturday we celebrated the Easter Vigil of the Lord’s Resurrection with a large montage of the Risen Christ draped over the Crucifix This was further reflected in the Easter Garden with image of the stone rolled back from the tomb.

The Mass of the Easter Vigil was offered by Fr. Hussey and bottles of Easter Holy Water were blessed for collection by the congregation. Fr John O’Connor, Tarbert offered the Mass on Easter Sunday and St. Mary’s Choir performed the liturgical hymn singing during all the Easter ceremonies.

TEMPLEGLANTINE

EASTER

The reasonably good weather conditions around Easter were very welcome after months of very frequent rainfall. It enabled more people to avail of outdoor pursuits and increased numbers were availing of the Greenway facility. The Barnagh Hub was a big attraction with lots of families visiting this wonderful amenity.

All the Holy Week ceremonies were well attended culminating with the Dawn Mass on Easter Sunday morning which had a bigger than expected congregation.

Day was just breaking as mass began and melodious singing of the birds was a joyous experience. Beautiful airs on the accordions at intervals during the ceremony added greatly to the occasion.

There was a welcome cupán tae available for everyone after mass, in Halla Inse Bhán where the people availed of the opportunity to have an early morning chat and exchange of Easter greetings. Míle buíochas to all who helped to make this happy occasion possible.

ANNUAL CLEAN-UP

The Team Limerick Clean-up which was organised locally by Templeglantine Tidy Towns was once again carried out very successfully during the past week. Earlier in the week groups of parishioners concentrated on their own particular localities did outstanding work in collecting litter and rubbish which was discarded mostly on roadsides from passing traffic.

Any remaining areas were attended to on Good Friday and the rubbish collected in the various localities was brought to the central collection point from which it was removed that evening. There was an enjoyable get-together and refreshments at the Halla when the work was completed. Ní neart go cur le Chéile.
