Listowel Credit Union celebrates as it reaches the €20-million mark in its loan book

-

HALF a century after it was founded, Listowel Credit Union is celebrating the ‘significant’ milestone of attaining the value of €20million in its loan book.

The figure was reached last month at a time of rapid growth in the Irish Credit Union sector in general, with the national CU loan book surging by over 11 per cent to €5.3billion in 2023 alone.

Listowel Credit Union’s accelerating loan book highlights what the institution described as its ‘momentous growth’ of recent years, thanks to the continued support of its members.

“We are absolutely delighted to reach a Loan Book of €20million with our members,” Listowel Credit Union CEO Denis Dillane said. “We have overcome challenges in the past number of years, and we will undoubtedly face more challenges in the future; however, this is a fantastic milestone for Listowel Credit Union and the members we serve.

“This loan book growth could not have been achieved without the support and trust of our members across North Kerry, staff, management, and our dedicated Board of Directors.

“We have experienced significant changes in Irish Banking; however, here at Listowel Credit Union, we understand the importance of retaining our ‘faceto-face’ engagement while also working to enhance our online services for the benefit of all members.

“Listowel Credit Union is here to support our members and the community. Together we will grow from strength to strength as we work towards the next milestone.”

To mark the milestone, Listowel Credit Union will host an open day at the main Listowel Office on Friday, April 26 next, from 10am to 4pm.

An open invitation is extended to everyone in the locality to come along on the day and join in the celebrations. Light refreshments will be served, and there will be members’ draw for all transactions completed on the day across both offices.
