Causeway Comprehensive shines on a big night of brilliant fashion

‘GLAMOUR & GLITZ FASHION SHOW’ GOES DOWN A STORM AT NORTH KERRY SECONDARY

-

A NEW generation of fashion afficiando was minted in North Kerry of late as Causeway Comprehensive students pulled out all the stops in the name of style for their big Glamour and Glitz Fashion Show.

That it was held in the presence of past student and Ballyheigue-native fashion king Don O’Neill and his husband Pascal Guillermie as well as Daily Diva Diary’s Helen Murphy made the night even more special.

It gave the entire school community, students and teachers alike, the chance to celebrate Causeway Comprehensive as a source of unstinting creativity and togetherness in front of the wider community, drawn to the big night from across the parishes of western North Kerry.

The night was the work of co-ordinator Sinead Scanlon, her passinoate Transition Year students and the dedicated fashion committee in what was described as a ‘celebration of imagination and sustainability’.

Daily Diva Diary frontwoman Helen Murray did a wonderful job as MC for the night captivating the 400-plus gathering with her trademark charm and wit and setting the stage for the unforgettable showcase of talent and style to follow.

Don and Pascal were on hand, of course, to judge one of the most eye-catching segments of the show, the TY Junk Kouture competition, demonstrating phenomenal creativity by the students. Don and Pascal were delighted to provide their invaluable feedback and guidance to the aspiring TY Junk Kouture designers while relaying tips and tricks of the industry to calm and steady the nerves of those braving the catwalk.

Awards were presented in various categories, including the Glamour Award and Wearable Art to name just a few. The atmosphere was electric as the TY models strutted down the runway, showcasing their designs with confidence and flair.

But the excitement didn’t stop there. Students also showcased outfits from a variety of prestigious shops, demonstrating the diversity of fashion available in Kerry.

From the sophisticated styles of Reiss and East 73rd to the unique offerings of Sinead’s Boutique and Jasmine Boutique, each ensemble captured the essence of its respective brand.

The runway came alive with the latest trends from Shaw’s, Effigy, Penney’s, as well as the Paul Galvin collection from Dunnes Stores, demonstrating the students’ flair for fashion.

The audience was no less captivated by newcomer WAWETS, founded by Rita Maunsell from Ardfert, in a range offering waterproof clothing as well as traditional work wear for women in agriculture.

Some past students also made an unforgettable splash as they returned to showcase fashion, including the members of the All-Ireland winning Clanmaurice Camogie Team who modelled outfits from Pamela Scott, whilst the male Kerry football and hurling players donned sharp suits from Suits Select.

And the teachers were not found to be wanting either when it came for a big turn on the catwalk. The female teachers paraded the newest outfits from Paco in Tralee with the male teachers donning ensembles from Shaw’s in Tralee; all of them in winning turns that drew loads of applause from the audience and their students.

Behind the scenes, the event was brought to life by the talented team from Balloons Le Grá, Tralee, adding an extra touch of glamour to the occasion.

Meanwhile, stage, lighting, and sound were expertly managed by Ray Stack.

Reflecting on the success of the evening, principal Cathal Fitzgerald expressed his gratitude to everyone involved.

“Tonight was a testament to the creativity, talent, and spirit of our students and teachers alike,” Mr Fitzgerald said, adding:

“I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together, and I’m grateful to our judges, MC, sponsors, and everyone who supported the event.”

As the curtains closed on the Causeway CS Glamour and Glitz Fashion Show, attendees left with memories of an enchanting evening filled with style, elegance, and a captivating school spirit.

It truly was a night to remember, showcasing the best of Causeway Comprehensive School’s creativity and community ethos.
