Awards for Dingle’s top stars at GAA celebration night

-

THERE was a shower of silver in the Dingle Bay Hotel on Saturday night as CLG Daingean Uí Chúis celebrated the achievements of their best teams and players over the past year.

With Orla Mhic Cárthaigh and Seán Ó Súilleabháin in the role of MCs for the evening, medals were presented to the members of the winning teams in the Kerry Petroleum Senior Club Football Championship 2023, the Moran’s of Dingle West Kerry Senior Championship 2023, and Lee Strand West Kerry Senior League 2023, and the Barrett Shield Final winners of 2023.

Unfortunately, there were no Munster Senior Club final medals for the Dingle team who played Castlehaven at the height of Storm Fergus last December, but they were given due recognition for a commendable performance in a match that ended in penalty shootout heartbreak.

Rising star Hayley O’Flaherty was presented with the title of Peil Ban Daingean Uí Chúis Young Player of the Year, the club’s well-earned Player of the Year award went to Dearbhla Ní Chearna, and manager and trainer Alan Devane was named Clubperson of the Year.

On the other side of the gender divide, Dylan Geaney was presented with the award for Young Player of the Year, the Player of the Year was Conor Flannery, and the title of Clubperson of the Year went to Séamus Ó Dubhda, who was represented on the night by his son, Oisin, as Séamus was away on duty as a selector with the Kerry Minor Football Team.

The night included excellent food and service provided by Sarah Brosnan and her wonderful team.
