BALLYDONOGHUE PARISH MAGAZINE/GAA

The committee of BPM organised an evening with the surviving members of the 1959 Ballydononoghue North Kerry Champions at the GAA Clubrooms. It was a most enjoyable event, attended by team members, Michael Mulvihill, Tim Linnane, Con Nolan and Jer D O’Connor. Colm O’Connor (Listowel and Guhard) interviewed them on the training, etc, surrounding the great achievements of the team, much to the delight of the large attendance on the night. Well done to all involved on a lovely tribute to the men of ‘59.

DEATHS

The death occurred on Friday, April 5th, following a very brief illness, of Mary Sparkes, (nee Browne) Kiltean. Mary, who was a very talented lady, liked nothing better than painting and decorating and spending time in the garden.

Mary’s popularity was evident at the large attendance as she lay in repose at the Gleasure Funeral Home on Monday, April 8th and again at Mass in St Theresa’s Church, Ballydononoghue and internment in St John Paul II Cemetery, Listowel on Tuesday, April 9th.

Four musician friends of Mary’s son, Danny, provided the wonderful music and singing at the mass.

Sympathy is extended to her sons, Danny and Mike, her daughter, Jessica, grandchildren, Rebecca, Jamie and Lucy, her sisters, Nora and Bridie, brothers, Jer and Liz, and Billy, and to their extended families, Mary’s neighbours and friends. May she rest in peace.
