TIDY TOWNS FUN RUN

Kilmoyley Tidy Towns’ 5K/10K fundraisin­g run will take place once again this year on Sunday 26th May at 10am. It will follow the usual 5K route from St Erc’s Primary School to the School Cross on to O’ Sullivan’s Lerrig Stores up to Lerrig Lough turning right at the Kilmoyley GAA on to the Church and back to the primary school. The event never disappoint­s in being a truly enjoyable day, so dust off the runners and get the pushchairs ready! Entry is €15 for 10K, €10 for 5K and €5 for children U16. Split the Bucket: The Juvenile Club Split the Bucket draw will be held this Friday, 24th May. Envelopes are available at Lerrig Stores, Flaherty’s Hardware, Tóchar Bán and McElligott­s Bar

U7s - The U7’s hosted a blitz on Thursday evening with teams from St. Brendan’s, Lixnaw and Abbeydorne­y in attendance. It was great to see so many young hurlers out enjoying themselves on a beautiful pitch surface on a fine evening. Well done to all.

U15s - The U15’s had a massive battle away to Ballyduff on Friday evening in the U15 County League. It was a great team effort and a well deserved win. Final score Kilmoyley 2:15 Ballyduff 3:8

KERRY HURLERS

The Kerry hurling U14 developmen­t squad travelled to Carlow on Saturday to play Carlow and Kildare. Well done to our three club representa­tives, Seanie, Tadhg and Alan. All three were in action the night before in the U15 County League and again on Saturday for their county. Great dedication, well done lads.

DEATH of Sr. Attracta Carmody, Presentati­on Convent, Castleisla­nd, and formerly of Clountubri­d, Listowel and the Convents of Killarney, Cahercivee­n and Cork on May 15th 2024. Predecease­d by her father John, her mother Elizabeth and her brothers John and Tom. Sadly missed by the Presentati­on Sisters, her brothers Richard (Cork), Fr. Brendan S.J. (PP Moyvane), her sisters Patricia (Tralee) and Mai (Tipperary), sister-in-law Marie.

Grant-aid: We, Lixnaw Community Games community, would like to thank Kerry County Council (Listowel Municipal District) for the recent allocation of funding to Lixnaw Community Games under the Community Support Fund 2024. These funds will gladly be used to purchase much-needed equipment for various Community Games activities throughout the year.

Best of luck: Wishing Thomas Keane every success when he competes with the Kerry U.14 Cross-Country team in Gormanston, Co. Meath, next weekend.

Field events: Expression­s of interest are now invited for the following field events for boys and girls: Javelin (U.14), Long Jump (U.14), Shot Putt (U.14), High Jump (U.16), Discus (U.16). The Ball Throw competitio­n will be held on the Athletics night and the Long Puck competitio­n will be held in the coming weeks. Further details to follow.

Athletics night: A reminder of our Sports Evening coming up on Friday, 31st May, in Hermitage Park, Lixnaw, at 6pm. Entry fee: €5 individual child, maximum entry fee €10 for a family. The programme is as follows for boys and girls: Tiny Tots and U.6 - 50m, U.8 - 60m and 80m, U.10 - 100m and 200m, U.12 - 100m, 200m, 600m and Ball Throw, U.14 - 100m and 800m, U.16 - 100m, 200m and 1,500m.

It is important that parents register their child/children for their events by emailing lixnaw@communityg­ames.eu before Thursday, 30th May. This is to avoid long queues at the gate and so the event can start at 6pm sharp. Your co-operation in this regard would be really appreciate­d by the organising committee. Please include the child’s name, address, date of birth, specified races/events and parent contact details.

Participan­ts must reside in Lixnaw Parish. The cut-off date is 31st July for individual age groups. 1st and 2nd place go through to the County Community Games on 22nd and 23rd June.

CCÉ LEAC SNÁMHA

Well, it’s that time of year again when fleadh season is around the corner and, as always, we are holding our annual féile cheoil which serves as a great preparatio­n and practice for fleadh competitio­ns. Our féile this year will run over the June bank holiday weekend, 1st/2nd June. On the Saturday open and confined step dancing competitio­ns will be held from 10am followed by our féile concert at 8pm. On Sunday 2nd, competitio­ns in sean nós dancing, traditiona­l music, singing and comhrá gaeilge will kick off from 11am.
