KILLORGLIN ARCHIVES

Are working hard to get all photographs scanned, especially those of our town and countryside. Plans for 2016 are going ahead. Ballykissane Pier is getting a new facelift and history is going to be written up in a public place so that each and everyone passing through Killorglin will know what happened that fateful night. This group of workers have asked Eileen to go forward for Lord Mayor of Killorglin and she gracefully took up the offer. So you people out there, please support Eileen when you see her in town. €2 a line and €20 for full page.

PUCK FAIR

The stand is up and waiting for the crowds to come as they will on August 10th, 11th and 12th. Puck Fair 400 years old. Long ago, the Square was a hub of activity and the young girls used to dance on top of wooden barrels and as the years went by, a stand was growing higher and higher and now it’s 52 feet up in the air, when the King is in his throne, he can see his homeland on the McGillycuddy Reeks, over the top of the highest rooftops. I was asked during the week if I minded the cow muck in Langford St, No I don’t mind. The cattle leave the street before 3 pm and then its water-hosed by Co.Council which washes away all. It was always tradition to have cattle fair in Langford St. We can’t break with tradition and we won’t wash away our history!. At this time,we would like to welcome back our Killorglin youth and the not so young, quite a few are here already so We,l See You At Puck. Look after yourself and look after each other! Middle age is when you are not inclined to exercise anything but caution!
