Win­dows on the magic of Gaeilge

A GROUP of busi­ness peo­ple who cel­e­brated Seach­tain na Gaeilge by be­deck­ing their shop front win­dows on an Ir­ish-lan­guage theme were hon­oured for their ef­forts in a prize-win­ning cer­e­mony in Tralee’s Mead­ow­lands Ho­tel last week.

An Cor­cán and Scar­iff Meats in An Coireán ( Water­ville), Comhar Chrei­dmheas Chorca Dhuib­hne in An Daingean; Cloth Hall, Kay’s Chil­dren’s Shop and Betty McGrath’s florists, all in Lis­towel and The Ir­ish Pub Shop and Jo­e­vany in Kil­lar­ney were all awarded prizes for An Fhuin­neog is Gae­laí.

And in­ter­est in the com­pe­ti­tion this year marked some­thing of a re­vival. “The com­pe­ti­tion, which used to be a cen­tral part of Seach­tain na Gaeilge in years gone by was a great suc­cess this year,” Roibeard Ó hEartáin said.
