The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
MILLTOWN CASTLEMAINE
Our under-10 boys had a great evening in Fossa last Tuesday where they enjoyed playing some fantastic football in the glorious sunshine.
Special thanks to Fossa GAA for having the boys and to Garry, John and James for all their work. It was also very encouraging to see the many parents/guardians who travelled along to support the young boys.
Under-12s: Both of our under-12 boys were very unlucky against Fossa on Sunday evening last-despite some excellent scoring by the. The A team lost on a score line of 3: eight to two eight and the B’s lost 5: 13 to five nine. Well done to you all for a fine sporting effort and thanks to all your coaches for their commitment to training and games.
Athletics: It was a great day out at the Athletics Ireland National Indoor Juvenile Championships in Athlone at the weekend when Milltown boy Cian Spillane won Gold in the boys under-14 800 metres. Cian also won bronze in the team relay event.
College Students: We remember all our footballers who are currently sitting end of year exams. It can be a very stressful time so let’s give them all the support they need – a listening ear or a word of encouragement. Presentation Secondary School Congratulations to Presentation Secondary School Milltown, who defeated Thurles CBS to claim the Corn Roibeard Ui Bhuachalla in the Munster under-16.5 C football final held in Rathkeale on Friday last. Cycle Event: On Saturday, May 20, there will be a cycle event in aid of Kiltallagh National School. There is a choice of two routes – a 45km for the leisurely cyclist or a 90km for the more enthusiastic athlete. There will be food stations along the way and refreshments at the end – as well as children’s entertainment.
This would be an ideal training session for the upcoming ROK.
Registration is at Kiltallagh School from 8.30 a.m. with the event itself departing from the Community Centre in Castlemaine at 10 a.m.
