Athletes excel in Schools T&F

THE North Munster Schools Track and Field championships were held last week in Ennis and UL with the South Munster Boys Schools in CIT Cork on Thursday.

Outstanding performances came quick and fast from the schools of north and south Kerry and the training from the affiliated athletic clubs shone through.

The winners qualified for the Munster Schools Championships in CIT on Saturday May 20.

North Munster Results Minor Girls

Katelyn Reid (Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne) gold in shot, Eabha Murphy (Mercy Mounthawk) silver in 75mH, Rebecca Falvey (Mercy Mounthawk) bronze in long jump.

Minor Boys

Sean O’Mahony (St Michael’s Listowel) gold in long jump and bronze in 75mH, Finn Daibhéis (Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne) bronze in long jump.

Junior Girls

Katelyn Reid (Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne) gold in hammer and silver in discus and javelin, Ann-Marie Pierse (Colaiste Ide agus Iosef) silver in long jump, Amanda Tony (Colaiste Ide agus Iosef) bronze in 200m.

Junior Boys

Mervyn Shalemba (Mercy Mounthawk) gold in 100m and 200m, Sean Kennedy (Tralee CBS) gold in long jump and bronze in 100m, Sean Pollman Daamen (Mercy Mounthawk) silver in 1,500m, Jamie O’Brien (Mercy Mounthawk) silver in 80mH, Jordan Kissane (Tralee CBS) silver in long jump and high jump, Niall Fitzmaurice (Tralee CBS) silver in javelin, Nathan Wright (Desmond College) bronze in long jump.
