Kerry captain Carmody pleased with character U-17s showed

-

THE captain of the Kerry side Sean Carmody said he was very happy with the team performance.

“We got off to a bad start conceding an early goal but the lads showed great character to turn it around and win the game comfortably at the end,” he said. “We were contented enough at half time with 2-1 lead but we knew we had to keep it going to ensure a win. We played very well in the second half and scored some great goals. It is nice to get another win and it is a great boost ahead of the away game against Wexford Youths next weekend.”

The manager of the Kerry side Darren Aherne said he was very pleased with the win and the manner in which it was achieved.

“It was great to come from behind and win and shows the great character this team has. I am very proud of the lads today with the way they performed and the amount of creativity they produced. We were disappointed after last weeks defeat to Cobh Ramblers but the lads were excellent today and scored some great goals. We had a tough schedule last week with the two games against Cobh Ramblers and it s great we put that aside today and got a great win.

“We have three games played already this month and have two more away to Wexford Youth next weekend and then at home to Shamrock Rovers the following week. I could not have asked for more from the lads today as they played with great passion and turned in a great performance. This win will boost the team’s confidence ahead of next Saturday’s away tie against Wexford Youths,” he added.
