Our U16s travelled to killarney athletic in the trophy worls u16 league and despite an excellent Jack duggan strike the hosts recorded a 2-1 win.Full credit to all the players involved.This group of players will contest the Tucker Kelly U16 shield final v Listowel celtic on saturday 27th.
On thursday night last our U14s qualified for the Tom Hayes kerry shield final by virtue of a home 3-1 win after extra time over killarney celtic .Two goals by Peter Cosgrave & one from Anthony Kelliher sealed the win. Best on the night were Liam o Driscoll,Aaron o Donoghue ,Ethan Campbell,Bryan Burke & cormac Costello.
The Final was played on saturday last at the Kerry District League Astro Pitch in Tralee where Iveragh from Cahersiveen were the opposition. It was a cracking encounter with the southerners coming out on top 5-4.Our Goals were scored by Darren Daniel ,Bryan Burke,Ethan Campbell & Christopher Palmer.While on the day all were outstanding John Power,Michaell Brosnan ,Dillon Butler & peter Cosgrave deserve special mention.Thanks to Anthony Mckenna & Ciaran Butler for leading this group to the Final.
On Sunday last our seniors hosted league leaders Mitchells Avenue from Tralee at Murt Scott Park.Shane o Donoghue gave us the lead on 25 minutes with a wonder strike, the teams were level at the break and the visitors nicked a goal on the hour to see them take all three points.Best on the Day were Brian o Sullivan ,Ger Fitzgerald ,Dan o Shea ,Pad- raig Shanahan,Diarmuid o Neilll ,Padraig o Mahony & Padraig o Connor.
COMMUNITY GAMES
Skittles Congratulations to the Firies u16 Skittles team who won gold medals in Community Games co Final on Friday. This was a well contested competition with Firies winning gold, Duagh Lyre silver, Keel/Kiltalagh winning bronze and Rathmore/ Gneeveguilla in 4th place receiving Certs. Well done to Ciara Kearney, Cian Sheahan, Quinn O Connor, Ronan O Mahony, Patrick Kearney & Michael Brosnan. Thank you to Kerri Sheahan who coached the team.
Firies Sports Day - The annual community games Sports Day takes place on this Sunday 21st May in Farranfore field at 12.30. This sports day is open to all children from tiny tots to u16. There will be novelty races for everyone. The competitive races are open to anyone from Firies, Ballyhar & Farranfore area and attending any schools. Qualifiers in the competitive races from u8 to u16 will go forward to Athletics Co Final representing Firies on Sat/SunJune24th&25th. ty events for the younger ages. TRAINING
Secondary School /Junior / Senior training every Thursday at 6:40pm in GAA Grounds Farranfore. This is endurance training for all levels with emphasis on running form and technique. €2 club member, €4 non club member.
