SSE AIRTRICITY U-17 LEAGUE Wexford Youths 0 Kerry 1

KERRY recorded their first back to back win at Ferrycarrig Park on Saturday with a great 1-0 victory over Wexford Youths.

Kerry went into this game full of confidence after their win the previous week against Limerick and they were on the front foot from the kick off.

The goal that won the game came in the 11th minute when Kerry forced a corner kick.

It was floated into the goalmouth by Martin Coughlan and Dillon Robinson rose high to head powerfully to the roof of the net.

This was Robinson’s sixth goal is 6 games which is a remarkable achievement.

They had opportunities to extend their lead but failed to avail of them and when the home side tried to manufacture an equaliser Kerry were rock solid at the back and ran out comfortable winners at the end.

Kerry have now accumulated 10 points, three wins and one draw from 7 games, which is the total they had in the entire season last year. This is clearly demonstrating the progress the team has made with the players from last year now excelling with the team.

Team manager Darren Aherne is in a very strong position as he has a strong panel of players with a good bench as well.

Consequently he is rotating players on a weekly basis which is keeping everyone on their toes as competition for places is very intense.

They are now in a very healthy position in the league and can look with considerable optimism for the games ahead.

They’ve a huge game next Sunday at Mounthawk Park when they host leaders Shamrock Rovers.

They are unbeaten in seven games with six wins and one draw which clearly indicates the formidable task facing Kerry.

They will go into the game as outsiders but with home advantage they might sneak a point.
