GLENBEIGH/ GLENCAR

-

Councillor Michael Cahill has called on Kerry Co. Council and The Office of Public Works to put in place a ‘Specific Budget’ for the protection of family homes from tidal flooding. Speaking at last Friday’s meeting of the South and West Municipal District Councillor Cahill said family homes have been flooded and people are living in constant fear of storms and high tides. These people pay their property tax and yet there is no specific scheme available to protect their homes.

The Fianna Fail Councillor called on the Council and O.P.W. to raise, and strengthen the seawall and enbankment at Cromane Lower, Killorglin and to provide a new enbankment close to the effected homes in Inchrea, Glenbeigh and additional funding for coastal protection works at Rossbeigh. Councillor Cahill stated ‘’This is amost serious matter and I am aware of two families in the Mid Kerry area who are seriously considering the relocation scheme. This can be avoided if a scheme were available for the protection of homes.’’
