Flesk works are underway
IMPROVEMENT works on the Flesk Bridge are underway and Kerry County Council expects them to continue until mid-December.
It comes as part of a €2 million investment in upgrading bridges around Kerry, and the Flesk Bridge works will require a one-lane stop-go traffic system.
The enhancement will see works carried out on the bridge parapets, railing, and road surface, while improvements will also be carried out on the footpath and cycle lane across the bridge.
The local authority described the bridge as part of an “important tourist route” and said the works are being carried out outside of peak season in a bid to minimise disruption.
“The investment, with the support of Transport Infrastructure Ireland, represents an important enhancement to this well-known bridge across the River Flesk”, Kerry County Council told The Kerryman. “It indicateds the Council’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure in the Killarney area.”
