Firies U-16s beat Crokes to capture Division 2 title

PLAYED in Fossa this MD O’Shea East Kerry U16 Championship Division 2 Final, was won by Firies after a cracking game against Dr Crokes. Dr Crokes raced into a three point lead. Firies pointed a free on twenty minutes. Dylan O’Callaghan converted a penalty – a much needed life-line for Firies.
The Dr Crokes centre forward was a constant threat up front, scoring some lovely points. The sides were level at half time: Firies 1-02 Dr Crokes 0-05.
The second half saw Firies quickest out of the blocks scoring three points in quick succession. Dr. Crokes displayed great resilience and levelled the scores mid way through the second half.
A fine save by the Firies goalkeeper prevented Dr Crokes getting a foothold late on in the game. Both sets of players played lovely football throughout. Firies won on a final scoreline: Firies 1-11 Dr Crokes 0-09.
