AN ARDFERT woman is bringing us right back to to the golden era of music this weekend when she hosts a fundraising 80’s and 90’s disco night, all in of the South Infirmary Hospital in Cork.

Caroline Sullivan McAuliffe, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and as a result spent three weeks in the care of the hospital and its staff, said that this fundraiser is all about giving back to the wonderful staff in the hospital.

“The care and attention that I received in that hospital during my treatment was simply unbelievable,” she said, speaking to The Kerryman on Friday afternoon.

“I’ll never forget how well they treated me there, this fundraiser is all about me giving back to those amazing and wonderful people,” she continued.

Caroline says that everyone is welcome to come along to the 80’s and 90’s night in the Abbey Inn Tavern in Ardfert village next Saturday night, February 17 for what she says will be a night of fun and dance.

“80’s and 90’s costumes are optional but highly encouraged on the night. There will be plenty of prizes available to win on the night through a raffle; tickets for this are just €5 and are available to buy from Caroline herself or through the ‘80’s and 90’s Fundraising Disco Night’ group on Facebook,” Caroline said.

Some of the prizes available to win on the night include a two night stay an an evening meal in the Skellig Hotel in Dingle, a €250 voucher for Aer Lingus, a €100 voucher for Atlantic Oils in Ardfert and finally a €50 voucher for Horgans Centra in Ardfert.

“The staff in the hospital are delighted that we are doing thi fundraiser, but it is well deserved for them after all their kindness,” Caroline finished.

The disco will start at 9pm on the night and the raffle draw at 10pm.
