County Minor Leagues get underway this weekend

- County Board PRO Leona Twiss with all the GAA news

THIS Saturday sees the start of the 2018 Minor Leagues. All games will throw in at 4pm. The rules and regulations governing the minor leagues were emailed to clubs last week.

It’s important to note that for Divisions 1, 2, 3A, 3B and 4 the semi-finals pairings will be 1 v 4 and 2 v 3, with 1 and 2 having home advantage.

For Division 5 the top team will go straight into the final and next two teams will play in the semi-final with second place at home to 3rd place.

For Division 6A & 6B the top two teams will qualify for the semi-finals of Division 6 with the top team in each Division having home advantage in the semi-final against the second place in the other division. For teams who finish third and fourth in Division 6A & 6B, they will go into the Division 7 semi-final, with the third place teams in each division having home advantage against the fourth team in the other Division. Where long distances are involved, the CCC has the right to fix games at a neutral venue.

Conceding a game will be taken into consideration by the CCC in determining placings. Teams with the least number of games played as a result of not fulfilling a fixture will be placed below any other team with the same number of points.

The Minor Leagues will be run by the CCC with a designated Officer in charge. The designated Officer for 2018 is Coaching Officer Terence Houlihan, 087- 9359638.
