Flood of American students
FLOCKS of American students are to be seen around Dingle this week after after the local wing of Sacred Heart University took in 117 students from its Connecticul base and from Avernia University in Pennsylvania. At the same time a separate group of law students arrived in town from the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC).
The students from Kansas and some of the SHU students are located in an Diseart, while Oceanworld, WestKerry Fitness and Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne are providing classes and rooms for the other students.
The SHU students flew in on Saturday and will spend two weeks studying subjects as diverse as Irish Identity in Media and History, Sports Marketing, and Ocean Science.
Alongside the SHU students, there are students of trans-cultural nursing from Avernia University in Pennsylvania. During their time in Dingle they will visit Traveller families in Tralee and the Tralee International Resource Centre to broaden their cultural perspective.
