Flood of Amer­i­can stu­dents

FLOCKS of Amer­i­can stu­dents are to be seen around Din­gle this week after after the lo­cal wing of Sa­cred Heart Univer­sity took in 117 stu­dents from its Con­necticul base and from Aver­nia Univer­sity in Penn­syl­va­nia. At the same time a sep­a­rate group of law stu­dents ar­rived in town from the Univer­sity of Mis­souri Kansas City (UMKC).

The stu­dents from Kansas and some of the SHU stu­dents are lo­cated in an Diseart, while Ocean­world, WestKerry Fit­ness and Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuib­hne are pro­vid­ing classes and rooms for the other stu­dents.

The SHU stu­dents flew in on Satur­day and will spend two weeks study­ing sub­jects as di­verse as Ir­ish Iden­tity in Me­dia and His­tory, Sports Mar­ket­ing, and Ocean Sci­ence.

Along­side the SHU stu­dents, there are stu­dents of trans-cul­tural nurs­ing from Aver­nia Univer­sity in Penn­syl­va­nia. Dur­ing their time in Din­gle they will visit Trav­eller fam­i­lies in Tralee and the Tralee In­ter­na­tional Re­source Cen­tre to broaden their cul­tural per­spec­tive.
