Special mention to the South contingent namely Senior selector Maurice Fitzgerald, players Mark Griffin,Killian Young and Brendan O’Sullivan. Under 20 manager Jack O’Connor, centre-back Graham O Sullivan.
Juniors Paul O’Sullivan, Niall O’Shea, Conor O’Shea, Chris Farrelly and minor manager Peter Keane. Special mention to County Junior Daniel Daly who picked up a leg injury playing for his club St Marys. Best wishes on your recovery Daniel.
County MFC
SOUTH Kerry made the long trip to Ballybunion to play Shannon Rangers.
Despite a lot of hard work put in by trainer Connie O’Connor we came away defeated on a scoreline of 3-9 to 2-7.
At the time of writing this article we will know our fate as it is do or die v a fancied St Kierans on Tuesday [July 3] in Con Keating Park.
Hopefully with a few players back from holidays we can turn things around and extend our interest in this year’s County Championship.
Special League
ROUND 1 of the South Kerry Special League commences on Saturday, July 7 at 7.30pm.
The competition shall be played on weekends in July and August that do not have senior county league fixtures – Saturday, July 7, Saturday July 21, Saturday August 11, 18 and 25.
All matches fixed for 7.30 pm Sat evenings
Changes of fixtures only allowed if both clubs agree to play on Friday night or Sunday of the same weekend of the original fixture. No agreement means original 7.30pm Sat fixture stands.
The 2018 South Kerry Senior panel are ineligible to play in this competition.

Tournaments
TWO very successful tournaments were played down South last weekend
Firstly on Saturday it was Under 14 seven-a-side in Sneem in memory of one of the most gifted corner forwards of all time John Egan.
Kenmare ran out winners after a titanic struggle with a one point victory over Skellig / Valentia after extra time.
Other teams to take part were Sneem / Derrynane / Templenoe, St Marys, Mls / Foilmore and Renard. John Jnr, Mary and Maureen Egan were in attendance to present the cup in memory of the late John to Kenmare captain Tommy O’Sullivan.
On Sunday in Waterville it was Under 10s honouring another all-time great Mick O’Dwyer. The host club Waterville were victorious over Foilmore in the final. Other teams to attend were Valentia, St Marys, Dromid Pearses, Renard and Sneem / Derrynane.
Micko himself was on hand to present the cup to Waterville Captain Ben Galvin.
Bereavements
SYMPATHY is extended to the following: Fitzgerald Family Derrynane on the death of Pete; O Donoghue Family Renard on the death of Donal. THE Keane’s Supervalu Minor County Football Championship saw Mid Kerry lose to East Kerry 1-9 to 0-13.
Meanwhile, the Mid Kerry Senior League Final sees Beaufort take on Miltown / Castlemaine Saturday next. July 7 at 7.30pm Venue to be confirmed – extra time playable.
THE Kelloggs Cúl Camps will be held in Killorglin and Miltown / Castlemaine from Monday, July 9 to Friday, July 13.
