Multi-talented Tina ready for the off at the RDS ‘Art Source’ fair
A KERRY ultra runner who portrays her abundant energy through her work will exhibit at Ireland’s premier art fair, Art Source, which will be held at the RDS from November 9 to 11.
Tina Reed (52) from Killarney completed an ‘ironman’ last year and regularly runs distances of up to 100 miles, saying that age is only a number, not an excuse.
“I’m passionate about the outdoors, and I’m passionate about painting, and it’s a pure joy to me that I can combine the two,” she said.
“I paint from nature, autumn woodland scenes and florals, hill runners, galloping horses, swooping birds and crashing seas. I am really energetic in all I do and try and translate that into my paintings by use of a palette knife, which allows me to work quickly and to express movement and direction. My paintings are vibrant and colourful and the paint is layered and textured to build a bold impasto.”
Tina, who is a member of Visual Arts Ireland, just finished a 5m-by-2m exterior mural of Fionn MacCumhaill, commissioned by Killarney Town Council.
“I was lucky that the weather was so dry this summer, but the heat meant that the paint was drying almost too fast on me,” she laughed.
Irish art lovers have the chance to get their hands on 100 pieces of original artwork for €100 each – as well as unique works by Andy Warhol – at the RDS.
Over 15,000 people are expected to view exhibits from artists across all genres at the biggest art event of the year, which features over 175 contemporary artists and galleries over two floors showcasing painting, sculpture, photography, illustration, prints and ceramic art.
Art Source takes place at the RDS, Dublin, from November 9 to 11. Admission is €10 for adults, €8 for OAPs.
Children under 16 can attend for free, but only if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
