Fossa 4-16 Scartaglen 1-4

A MINUTES silence was observed in memory of the late Maura Horan, Scartaglen (RIP), before the semi-final of the Fr Galvin Cup between Scartaglen and Fossa in Cordal last Sunday.

Fossa proved too strong for Scartaglen and recorded a comfortable win. While both sides were a bit rusty at the start, when Fossa got going there was only going to be one winner.

The sides were level after thirteen minutes at two points apiece. However, a brilliant team move resulted in Tadhg O’Shea crashing home a goal.

This was followed with a goal from the penalty spot by Paudie Clifford, putting some daylight between the sides.

Scartaglen didn’t give up and they scored an excellent goal through Kieran Herlihy in the 26th minute to bring them back into the game. This left the half-time score Fossa 2-7 Scartaglin 1-3.

Scartaglen opened the scoring in the second half with a well taken point. However, Fossa then took control of the game and a brace of points from Matthew Rennie, Donmhaill O’Sullivan, Lorcan Daly and further goals by Paudie Clifford and Tadhg O’Shea left Fossa comfortable winners on a score Fossa 4-16 Scartaglen 1-4.

Michael O’Mahony, East Kerry PRO presented the Aquila Club Man of the Match Award to Fossa’s Paudie Clifford.
