Big weekend for Kerry clubs in the FAI Junior Cup
FAI JUNIOR CUP FOURTH ROUND SUNDAY NOVEMBER 11 Killorglin v Killarney Celtic (11 30am)
CELTIC will go into this game as warm favourites but cup games have a habit of springing surprise results and Killorglin will be hoping they can make home venue count and try and topple their illustrious opponents.
Killorglin manager Con Lucey will have his own game plan for this showdown and he will be hoping they can upset the apple cart.
The Launesiders narrowly missed out on reaching the Premier B league final last year and with more players added to the squad they are a stronger side this season, which will enhance their prospects in this game.
Celtic boss Brian Spillane won’t be taking anything for granted and he knows unless they play to their full potential they could become a cropper against the Mid Kerry side. However, Celtic were unbeaten in all domestic competitions last year and with an even stronger squad this season they are almost invincible.
They had big wins in the Munster Champions League Trophy against such formidable sides as Janesboro and Brideview United so they are very familiar with big games and make a habit of winning them.
Very few would bet against Celtic in this game and they should be able to engineer a win.
Killeaney / Bally Rovers (Desmond) v Castleisland (2pm)
CASTLEISLAND will be making the journey to West Limerick where they face Desmond League side Killeaney/Bally Rovers.
Killeaney and Bally Rovers used to be separate clubs but they joined forces this season so they have a much bigger pick and consequently they will be very formidable opponents.
However the game is coming at a good time for Castleisland manager Edmond Hartnett as a few players are back after injuries while a few new young players have been added to his squad.
Edmond is back at the helm with Castleisland after taking a six-year break and his side are showing very consistent form in Premier A.
They are unbeaten in five outings in the league (four wins and a draw), so they are on a good run going into the game.
Castleisland always do well in cup competitions and if they play up to scratch on Sunday they should be able to squeeze out a win against their Desmond League opponents and progress to the last 64.
