Celtic forced to dig deep to overcome Déise outfit Brideview
MUNSTER CHAMPIONS TROPHY 1/4 FINAL Killarney Celtic 2 Brideview United (Waterford) 0
KILLARNEY Celtic advanced to the semi-final of the Munster Champions Trophy at Celtic Park on Saturday night with a great win over Waterford side Brideview United.
They had to dig deep to etch out a win against a strong Waterford side. They began the game strongly and went ahead after 23 minutes with a great strike from Gary Keane.
Celtic doubled their lead on the hour mark with a stunning goal from sub Conor McCarthy who bent a delicious free kick from outside the box around the defensive wall and into the bottom corner of the net
Now the hosts were in a comfortable situation so they took more time on the ball and defended deeply to deprive the opposition of scoring opportunities.
The visitors done their best to try and claw a goal back but they were unable to penetrate a rock solid Celtic defence who dealt comfortably with everything that came their way.
Celtic now eagerly await the semi final draw and will be keeping their fingers crossed for a home draw. Abbeyfeale United, (Desmond League), Newmarket Celtic (Clare) or Grattin United (Cork), St Michael’s Tipperary.
