Kanturk 3 Killarney 20
KILLARNEY secured their fourth win on the bounce with a very impressive away win over Cork side Kantuk last Saturday.
Kanturk stared the brighter of the two sides and after good early pressure converted a penalty to push them 3-0 ahead. Gradually Killarney got their running game together and after sixteen minutes Thomas Clifford streaked over in the left corner flowing a slick passing movement.
With the shackles off, Killarney kicked on and following some line breaking attacking play from Dan Twomey, the powerful Cormac Rowe streaked away to score in the right corner.
Killarney were now dominant, and some more good play yielded a try after Donnchadh Grealy’s one handed pass sent Liam Randles in under the posts for a converted try to leave the half time score 17-3 to the visitors.
Victory was secured shortly after half time when Killarney scrum half Peter Walsh barged over from close range. The final score of the game was secured by the impressive Bailey O’Sullivan, who finished off a powerful forward drive.
Kanturk battled bravely until the finish, but Killarney counter-attacked impressively the away side would have added to their total except for uncharacteristic handling errors.
Abbeyfeale 6 Castleisland 8
CASTLEISLAND got back to winning ways away to Abbeyfeale at a wet and windy Grove on Saturday. Neither side let the poor conditions deter them as they both played good attacking rugby in what was a very entertaining contest.
Abbeyfeale lead six-nil at halftime thanks to two well taken penalties, but it was Castleisland who always looked the more likely to score a try. Jordan Coffey O Sullivan went over in the corner with five minutes to play in the contest for the visitors.
The subsequent conversion was missed, but a last minute penalty by Donal Daly sealed the win and two points for the travelling team.
