FIRST WORLD WAR COMMEMORATION
To mark the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice , which brought to an end the slaughter of the First World War, there will be a free Concert in St John the Baptist Church , Knightstown . Baritone , Gavan Ring will be accompanied by Aoife O’Sullivan on the piano and the event will be presented and compered by Professor Muiris Bric . The Concert, which will commence at 4p.m. on Sunday 11th November, will be recorded by RTE for Lyric FM.
VARIETY SHOW
The annual South Kerry variety show takes place in Portmagee Community Centre on Saturday, 24th November 8pm. A great evening’s entertainment is guaranteed with the best of local comedy, music, song and dance :) Admission is just €5 and everyone is welcome. Raffle on the night with great spot prizes. Refreshments available. Spread the word!
COMMUNITY CENTRE
Valentia gym has reopened following recent refurbishment. Call in and check out the fantastic range of cardio machines and weights equipment. You won’t be disappointed! It’s the ideal place to get fit during the cold, dark winter months, and gift vouchers are available if you would like to treat a friend. We want to sincerely thank everyone who helped in any way during the renovations process - we hope you and your families will benefit from this fantastic facility for many years to come.
Yoga has restarted at the community centre: Mondays 7.308.30 for men, Tuesdays 6.30-7.30 for women. Info from Anne Stanton 087 2592169. Indoors bowls has also returned at the slightly earlier time of 6.45 on Tuesdays. Shane’s circuits class is on Tuesdays at 8 and all are welcome; phone 087 6268051 for details.
Circuits for women is on Wed at 6.30 and this is suited to all fitness levels 087 7918188 for more info. Iveragh badminton club train here on Wednesdays from 9-10 and there is badminton for young people aged 10-14 on Wed at 4.30.
Our sports club for primary school children continues on Thursday afternoons, and Clare’s zumba class is on Thursdays at 7pm. Girls GAA is on Fridays at 6. Any groups wishing to book the sportshall should contact 087 7918188 as soon as possible to reserve a timeslot.
