‘To win an East Kerry title would be a dream come true’

I think I can safely say that for Kilcummin GAA Club, its players and supporters, that winning the Dr O’Donoghue Cup would be like reaching the Holy Grail. Having won it just once in 1973, we set out each year with renewed vigor and energy in an attempt to lay our hands on this coveted trophy.

To win an East Kerry title in a division that hosts so many top teams, where there is no easy match, would be a dream come true for us. Losing four finals in the 2000s was heart breaking. Nevertheless, each year we await the draw with great interest and enthusiasm and hope that finally this will be our year.

‘It’s a tough division…’

Cordal had a tremendous and entertaining game with neighbours Currow in this year’s Dr O Donoghue Cup. Currow eventually won by 1 point in injury time and are deservingly in the semi final.

Cordal has won the Fr Galvin Cup on a number of occasions and hope to do so again. It’s a tough division and on any given year, any of the teams could win it out. Richard O’Donoghue, Cordal GAA Club Secretary
