CHRISTMAS CHEER ON KERRY STREETS
FESTIVE SEASON UP AND RUNNING: CHRISTMAS IN KILLARNEY DELIGHTS
THERE was even more of a buzz than normal on the streets of Killarney this past weekend as the town officially kicked off its festive season in style.
The festive spirit was in full flow on the town’s main streets on Saturday evening as hundreds gathered in eager anticipation of meeting the man himself, Santa Claus.
Red and green were the dominant colours on a thoroughly festive night in one of Ireland’s premier towns for Christmas spirit.
No stone was left unturned by the organisers, with the streets looking beautiful and the atmosphere and excitement palpable amongst both children and adults alike.
Local politicians including put their political leanings to one side on the evening as they got to grips with the most pressing issue of the occasion – what best Christmas outfit to wear to the parade.
Minions, elves and other characters were kept very busy throughout as they happily posed for photos galore with wide-eyed, excited kids.
The arrival of Santa himself on a splendid sleigh – with a sackful of parcels, and reindeer to boot – was met with the biggest cheer of the evening.
Another highlight of the festive season in Killarney is the return of Killarney on Ice, which will run from its Beech Road car park location on selected dates from November 30 to January 6.
