- By SIMON BROUDER

THE county’s spectacular scenery has been highlighted as part of a major new promotional effort to attract international visitors to the Wild Atlantic Way.

Kerry features prominently in the new ‘Call of the Wild’ social media campaign which asked people living along the Wild Atlantic Way route to post images of their ‘hidden gems’ along the coastal route.

In all some 4,000 images were submitted, with an very large portion coming from the Kingdom. The best of the images including many of the Kerry photos will now be used in set of advertising videos that will be aimed at social media users.

At least one million people are expected to see the ‘targeted’ social media videos over the next four weeks.

Kerry footballer Aidan O’Mahony was a local ambassador for the ‘Call of the Wild’ promotion and he said he was delighted at how many people in the county embraced idea behind the campaign.

“I’m delighted to have been a part of such a successful campaign. Locals in Kerry really stepped up to the plate and have done an amazing job of answering the ‘Call of the Wild’ by sharing their images and videos of the beautiful sights of our region on social media,” said Aidan.

“Now, with the campaign launching on a global level, those in different parts of the world will be able to get a taste of the stunning place we call home,” he added.
