November handicap draws 155 badminton players to Killarney

KILLARNEY Sports and Leisure Centre played host to the first major Juvenile tournament of the season last Saturday - the CPC.ie Juvenile November Handicap - with 155 players taking part from 10 different clubs across the county.

Participan­ts took part in girls and boys events throughout the day at age grades U-11, U-13, U15 and U-17.

Leinster Masters Open Success

THREE Kerry representa­tives Sinead Galvin, Michael Crossan and Tom Bourke (the new Chairperso­n of the Kerry Badminton Associatio­n) made the trip to Baldoyle in Dublin last weekend for the Leinster Masters Open and we are delighted to report that Tom came out on tops in the Men’s over 40s Singles event.

Butterfiel­d Cup / Knockout Cup

KERRY has the great honour of hosting the prestigiou­s Butterfiel­d Cup this weekend as the top Division 1 players in the province go head to head in this inter county team event. Kerry under the stewardshi­p of Billy Lacey will be looking to recapture a title they last won in 2014.

The event which will be hosted by the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centre this Sunday and coincides with another team event called the Knock-out Cup. This event comprises of teams of up to 4 Men and 4 Ladies. Each team plays 2 men’s doubles against each other, 2 ladies doubles and 2 mixed doubles.

The event is contested at Division 3, 4 and 5 level and is great practice for clubs intending to put Club teams together for the Mixed Leagues later in the season. The action gets underway in both competitio­ns at 11am.
