MUNSTER JUNIOR LEAGUE DIVISION 3 Killarney 32 Douglas/Carrigaline 0

KILLARNEY secured their third win on the bounce when they easily accounted for bottom side Douglas/Carrigaline at Aghadoe last Sunday. On a perfect day for rugby, the home side struck first after just five minutes when Damien O’Carroll went over in the corner to score a well worked team try. Douglas/Carrigaline’s indiscipline was a feature throughout and two indiscretions gave Oisin O’Shea two kickable penalties which he duly slotted over with ease.

Douglas/Carrigaline rallied and came at Killarney with all guns blazing but their indiscipline cost them and their flanker saw a yellow card and the sin bin. Killarney took full advantage to score converted tries from Damien O’Carroll and Brian Lynch to see them take a healthy 25-0 lead in at the break.

Douglas/Carrigaline set out their stall in the second half to try and keep the score down. Killarney struggled to re-establish their first half momentum but their efforts were rewarded in the dying minutes when Ger Moynihan went over for their fourth try and gain a valuable bonus point.

The win sees Killarney take third position in the table. Their next outing is an away trip to sixth placed Bantry Bay next Sunday.

Bantry Bay 62 Corca Dhuibhne 20

CORCA Dhuibhne suffered a comprehensive home loss to a rampant Bantry Bay last Sunday. The west Cork visitors struck for nine tries on a day Corca Dhuibhne will want to forget quickly. The positives they can take out of the game are the tries scored by Eoin Sullivan and Gearoid Breathnach while Alan Devane converted both and added two penalties. Corca Dhuibhne face an away day derby against Killorglin next Sunday.

WOMEN’S MUNSTER LEAGUE DIVISION 1 Richmond 0 Tralee 50

TRALEE continued their relentless march to the Munster league title when beat Richmond with typical panache last Sunday.

Richmond have traditionally had the upper hand on the Tralee ladies, but the tide has definitely changed with the visitors touching down for 8 unanswered tries.

Noreen Murphy started the rout and Ashley Roche followed with two, one of which was converted by Laoise O’Driscoll. On the stroke of half time O’Driscoll scored a good try to see her side lead 22-0 at the break.

Tralee continued in the second half with tries from Anna Murphy, Christene Arthurs and Riona Kennedy (2), with O’Driscoll converting all four.
