The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
Exciting festive street party and firework display
EVERYTHING needs a positive starting point and nothing is more deserving of one than Christmas. Castleisland is well ahead of the posse in this regard and if you want to get the festive season off to a timely and enjoyable start, then be sure to head to town this Friday (November 30) for some street entertainment and festive fun.
Castleisland Chamber Alliance will launch its annual Christmas shopping day in the town at its Christmas Street Party, to be held in the Walsh Electrical car park. It promises to be a fantastic celebratory event for the whole community. And yes, you’ve guessed it, Santa and his elves will be there at 5pm with free gifts for the children. The day will also feature street entertainers, live music, a BBQ and much more. Craft and food producers, subject to demand, will also have the opportunity to sell their goods this year. And to block out those winter chills, some Fair Trade Hot Chocolate, in association with Castleisland Community College, will be served.
The best part is knowing the evening’s celebrations culminate in a fantastic firework display. This event will be preceded by a Sensory Santa experience in association with NEWKD (contact the chamber for more info on the Sensory Santa).
“Christmas is a wonderful time of year and it’s always an exciting time or adults and children alike when it comes to celebrating it,” said Patricia Walsh, Chairperson of Castleisland Chamber Alliance.
“We look forward to a busy Christmas season in the town and we hope people come out and support the start of Christmas 2018 in Castleisland. On behalf of Castleisland Chamber Alliance, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our community a happy, healthy and joyous Christmas and we look forward to working with you all in 2019.”
