Castleisland Camera Club is looking for new ‘snap happy’ members in 2019...
DO you enjoy taking photos? Do you think you have an eye for that perfect shot, exposure, aperture, or bokeh? Then you might want to consider joining Castleisland Camera Club in 2019. Founded in 2017, Castleisland Camera Club emerged from humble beginnings and has grown ever since. The club has 30 members who meet regularly in the RCC Building on the Tralee Road (formerly the Nylerin building).
This is an active club that engages with all kinds of natural environments. Outings are arranged from time to time, and recent ventures included trips to Fenit, Ballyheigue, Ballybunion, Glanageenty and Glentenassig to name a few places. This is all done with the aim of capturing some beautiful images.
The club members regularly attend local events such as vintage days, 5K runs and fundraisers. This, in essence, is about capturing shots and enjoying the photography of everyday life, as well as nature and landscapes. The club has held two fundraisers since it was formed and has donated money to local charities.
The club invites guest speakers to meetings such as John Hooton from Mallow Camera Club, John Keane from Killarney Camera Club and local photographer Con Dennehy. The club is currently in the process of inviting local photographers to address meetings in the near future. Guest speakers have been helpful, informative and insightful and members have gained a wealth of knowledge.
Castleisland Camera Club members have taken part in day courses, online courses and night classes with professional photographers to improve their skills. “This effort is becoming quite obvious in the standard of photographs the members are now producing,” said Breda McGaley, PRO of Castleisland Camera Club.
“The club is made up of varying levels of ability and everyone helps and encourages each other. We would invite anyone with an interest in photography to come and join us. There is a great social side to the club with many new friendships formed since 2017. We always welcome new members,” Breda added.
You can contact any member of the club about joining. Or visit their Facebook page (Castleisland Camera Club). Or you can email Breda at: bredamcgaley@ gmail.com
