Bridie has been at so many of our meetings and at the heart of so many of our projects, and we even got to share a laugh or two with her at our meeting in September. We valued her involvement so much, and her sense of caring, her remarkable and selfless nature, her sense of community, her support, her commitment to driving change for the better, meant that we were all inspired and energised when Bridie was with us. Most of all it was her kindness, her smile and her natural drive to be a friend to all those that she met that we will remember so well. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.

SR. KIERAN O RIORDAN

The death took place on Wednesday September 5th in Westgate, Kent, England of Sr Kieran O’Riordan who was 94. Sr Kieran of Barna was sister of Ann Daly of Gortacoppal and her brother was the late Jeremiah Riordan. Hannah Mary O’Riordan left Kerry and Ireland in 1943 to join The Ursuline Order in Thanet in England. When professed, Hannah Mary took the name of Sr Kieran. She never forgot her roots and was a very proud Kerry woman and Irish woman and both places remained very dear to her heart.

Sr Kieran was a much loved lady who was a very kind, gentle, caring and prayerful person who gave years of loving service and always had a lovely smile. She had great devotion to Mary, and to Our Lady of Fatima and the Rosary was constantly in her hands as it was at the moment of her death. She was a great cook and always loved to prepare dinner.

At the Requiem Mass for Sr Kieran the last lines of a very fitting tribute ended thus “May you now have heard from the Lord to whom you gave your life, well done my good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of your Lord.” Sr Kieran was a wonderful servant and a wonderful lady. She is survived by her sister Ann, by 18 nieces and nephews, 28 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.

The late Sr Kieran was laid to rest in Westgate.
