THE 2019 Community Support Fund will offer €750,000 to community-based projects in Kerry over the coming year.

The 2019 fund was launched in Killorglin last week by Leas Cathaoirleach John Joe Culloty and Kerry County Council (KCC) Chief Executive Moira Murrell, and KCC has issued a call for applications for the year ahead.

This will be the fifth year of a fund which has provided €3m to more than 1,200 projects since its inception in 2015.

“The Community Support Fund has targeted funding towards a very wide range of community-based projects and has provided support to community councils, chamber alliances, tidy towns groups, and other organisations in a very progressive and structured way,” KCC Chief Executive Moira Murrell said.

“Furthermore, the retention of part of the fund to help to leverage funding from other sources and to co-fund projects with other funding streams has proven to be an enormous success in recent years.”

This year’s fund is set to target five categories: growing and sustaining communities; tidy towns initiatives and amenity projects; sport and physical activity programmes; economic innovation; and community-based tourism, festivals and events. Applications can be made until Monday, January 21, 2019, and can be downloaded from www.kerrycoco.ie. Further information is available from (066) 718 3680.
