Knockaderry splits the bucket!

- By TADHG EVANS

AS if rehearsing for its Christmas play were not enough, Knockaderry National School in Farranfore is also preparing to raise funds for extracurricular offerings through a separate initiative.

The school’s Parents’ Association recently announced a ‘Split the Bucket’ draw, which it is hoped will help provide for activities such as music performances, choir, and dancing.

The prize fund is currently at €500, and Principal Áine Daly expects that figure to climb.

“All one has to do is put €2 in an envelope and pop it into the special buckets in participating shops, bars and restaurants,” Principal Daly said of the event, which will see buckets out in participating businesses in Firies and Farranfore.

“The draw will take place in the school on December 20 after the Christmas school Mass and infant play.

“All are welcome to attend the Christmas events at 12pm, after which the draw will take place,” she added.

This year’s play is entitled ‘Angel Express’, charting how the news of a new baby born in Bethlehem reaches the papers.

Ms Daly was full of praise for her pupils ahead of their performances, the first of which will take place at the school at midday on December 13, and she was equally thankful for the hard work of the board of management in preparation of the ‘Split the Bucket’ draw.

“The ‘Split the Bucket’ prize will certainly add some sparkle to a family this Christmas,” she said.
