Keep on running this Christmas in Tralee...

-

RUNNING is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing pastimes of recent years with hundreds of men, women and children - of all ages and every level of fitness now enjoining a jog. This trend is producing a multitude of positive effects for people from physical fitness and mental wellness, to social interaction and friendship. The good news is that just because it’s Christmas there won’t be any let up in opportunities to get out there and have a jog over the holiday.

As well as Parkrun on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, the Tralee 5km Santa Fun Run is on Sunday, December 16. Starting at 11am from Tralee Bay Wetlands, this event is a memorial walk for the late Fiona Moore and is always a very popular pre-Christmas event. For more information check out the ‘Tralee 5km Santa Fun Run 2018’ Facebook page.

Optimal Fitness in Tralee is also looking forward to hosting its second 5km and 10km New Year’s Eve event. The proceeds from this year’s run will go towards supporting the excellent work of the Palliative Care Unit in Tralee. It starts at 11am on Monday, December 31 at The Rose Hotel (which is also the finish point). Trophies will be available for the first five male and female runners to cross the finish line, while there is a cash price for the overall 5km and 10km winners. This is for a great cause and is well worth supporting as we say farewell to 2018 and welcome 2019. Check out the Optimal Fitness Facebook page for details.
