Blazing a fairy trail at Firies NS

-

THERE was no little excitement in Firies National School last Friday as pupils dressed up as elves, fairies, knights and wizards, all to match the magical nature of the school’s fairy trail, the culmination of hard work by the pupils themselves.

Principal Claire Doyle explained the school plans to add to the trail in times ahead having already made indoor and outdoor fairy doors, origami butterflies, clay toadstools, fairy clothes, stories and poems matching the theme, and much more besides.

“It also provided opportunities to integrate subjects across the curriculum, such as literacy, numeracy and all classes were able to participate,” Ms Doyle said. “This project sparkled with creativity and imagination and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.”
