The Kerryman (South Kerry Edition)
THE GAME IN 60 SECONDS
MAINMAN
A lot of the success Dr Crokes have had this year has come from JOHNNY BUCKLEY. Having to play for only one team has certainly benefited his game this year as he kept his head totally throughout a rather strange and challenging encounter here.
KEY MOMENT
If O’Rahillys had found another early goal at the start of the second half who knows what they might have gone on to achieve near the end. Ultimately, as their manager Micheal Quirke feared, they just didn’t have the legs for extra-time with their lack of competitive action in comparison to what Crokes had played.
TALKING POINT
Whether you agree or disagree with such a fixture, it was a great game of football on Sunday. One could imagine the late Con Griffin of Fitzgerald Stadium, who was buried with both club flags in his coffin the Friday before the game, looked down in enjoyment at what was on show.
