‘It’s a very popular calendar that’s going for 4-in-a-row this year...’
KATHLEEN O’Sullivan is wellknown for her Trojan charity work in Cahersiveen. Her love of Kerry football is also peerless and this year she is going for a four-a-row of calendars.
Every year Kathleen helps raise money for local charities and organisations through the sale of calendars. The calendars are a hit with people home and abroad as they cover every aspect of life in south Kerry – sporting and social.
Kathleen is full of praise for Christy Riordan who has taken over 100 pictures for the calendar. The proceeds from the 2019 calendar will go to the Cahersiveen Tidy Towns who are currently arranging a ‘fairy trail’ walk in Cahersiveen.
Some of this year’s pics include Irish basketball star Síofra O’Shea and Kieran Donaghy at Síofra’s recent homecoming; there’s one of Kathleen playing pool with Kerry star David Clifford in Tralee; the opening of Colman Quirke’s Newsagents, including one of Coleman with what Kathleen describes as ‘the four famous sisters’; Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh with the Casey’s from Sneem; a shot of the Cahersiveen music and arts festival committee, and one of the Caherdaniel football team receiving a new set of jerseys at The Black Shop Bar.
“I get great pleasure from it and going out and meeting people. The support I get is amazing and everyone supports me. It’s a very popular calendar that’s going for 4-in-a-row this year. Hopefully I’ll be able to beat Dublin to the 5-in-a-row! It’s a calendar that is bought and sent all over the world and the money is going to a great organisation in Cahersiveen Tidy Towns. I also want to thank Christy Riordan for all his help and lovely photos,” said Kathleen. Copies of the calendar are available in local shops. Proceeds from its sale will go towards the marvellous work of Cahersiveen Tidy Towns.
