BALLYBUNION READY FOR ANOTHER BEALE CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA

-

IT’S all happening in Ballybunion on Saturday, December 22, when another great night of entertainment and laughter kick-starts the festive season as Beale synchs its lips with the hits.

The Community Centre plays host to what promises to be a fantastic night’s entertainment as Beale GAA again take over – this time for their big ‘Lip Zipped’.

The Beale GAA Christmas extravaganza has now become an established date in the social calendar.

This is their sixth annual Christmas event and they’ve pulled out all the stops.

A total of 12 acts are taking part in ‘Lips Zipped’, where the acts pretend to sing to pre-recordings, dressed up in legendary outfits guaranteed to leave stars in your eyes.

Renditions of songs by Queen and The Spice Girls, as well as the classics and songs from well-known musicals, will echo from the old Central Ballroom in Ballybunion on the night, catering for all musical tastes.

“Some of our former participants in Strictly Come Dancing and White Collar Boxing have thrown down the gauntlet again this year, while most of the 40 participants are newcomers who hope to rock the stage,” Beale secretary Bríd Griffin said.

“Acts such as Hot Mess, The Noughties, The Apaches, Schooligans and Village Idiots are ready to take on the challenge and will be vying to be crowned Lips Zipped champions on the night.

“And the night doesn’t end here. The audience can then dance the night away to the sound of Christmas tunes in the former ballroom, getting the festive season off to a great start,” Bríd added.

This annual Christmas event has become a major occasion for the club and the whole community, as proceeds go towards the development of the club’s facilities for all players, from under-6s right up to the senior team, with plans to further upgrade facilities to meet the needs of an ever-growing young population.

Doors open at 7.30pm on Saturday. Tickets, priced at €20, are available from the participants and from Joyce’s Newsagents, Danna’s Newsagents, The Bunker and The Railway. Bríd said the club greatly appreciates the support and sponsorship of the local community and beyond, and wished everyone a happy and healthy Christmas.
