THREE Kerry schools have advanced to the Quarter-finals of the Corn Uí Mhuirí after the completion of the Group stages yesterday (Tuesday) as a hampered fixture list saw the final round delayed by nearly two weeks due to the weather.

St Brendan’s College, Killarney will be the only Kerry sides going through as Group winners however as they had a strange 4-4 to 1-8 victory over Mercy Mounthawk in Caherslee last Friday that saw them register their four goals prior to scoring their four points.

A brace from Paul O’Shea alongside Patrick D’Arcy and Ryan O’Grady efforts saw them overcome an early 1-5 to 1-0 deficit after Paul Buckley scored Mounthawk’s goal. The Tralee school needed IS Killorglin to do them a favour yesterday in Currans against Clonakilty Community School to have any chance of making the Group Stages, but a depleted Killorglin side were beaten by 0-17 to 0-3 meaning Clonakilty took the runners-up spot.

Despite defeating The Sem to advance to this Friday’s O’Sullivan Cup Final with SPSL Rathmore (Fitzgerald Stadium, 1.30pm), Pobalscoil Corcha Dhuibhne ended up with a runners-up spot in their Group after a 4-8 to 2-10 defeat to HHS Bandon in the John Mitchels complex in Tralee yesterday.

Tralee CBS are also in the runners-up pot after a 1-16 to 0-5 win over Colaiste Chriost Rí on November 27 as Rochestown CBS and St Flannans along with Bandon and The Sem will be in the winners pot for the quarter-final draw as Ballincollig and Clonakilty will be in the runners-up pot with Pobalscoil and The Green.

The ‘B’ Section will see an all Kerry semi-final between holders Pobalscoil Inbhear Sceine Kenmare and SPSL Rathmore in the new year.

St Joseph’s Ballybunion will play Ennistymon CBS in the ‘C’ Quarter-Final tomorrow. Killorglin Community College will play Ennistymon Vocational School in the ‘E’ Semi-final in the New Year as well.

Speaking of the ‘E’ grade, Friday sees a unique Hurling Final between two Kerry Schools as Tralee CBS and Mercy Mounthawk battle it out for provincial honours at 12.30pm at a venue TBC.
