- BY SIMON BROUDER

RADIO Kerry has launched a bid to take over both Clare FM and Tipp FM in a move that would make the Kerry station’s parent company one of the largest regional radio owners in the country.

On Tuesday evening, Radio Kerry announced that its board had approved an offer to the shareholders of Clare Community Radio Holdings to purchase the entire share capital of the company, Clare FM.

It has also made an offer for Clare FM’s controlling interest in Tipp FM.

The Board of Clare FM are recommending acceptance of the offer to their shareholders. Both offers are subject to shareholder and regulatory approval which it is hoped to secure in early 2019.

In 2005, Radio Kerry previously purchased Shannonside/Northern Sound Radio which broadcasts into Longford, Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan and Monaghan.
