Asylum seeker (22) knocked down in midday incident in Kenmare town

GARDAÍ in Kenmare are appealing for any witnesses to an accident at the entrance to Reenagross Park in Kenmare last Friday morning when a pedestrian was injured during a collision with a vehicle coming from the direction of Kenmare town.

Two pedestrian­s had been in Reenagros Park and exited onto the main road, just across from Kenmare Pier. A car was coming from Kenmare town at the time and one of the pedestrian­s is understood to have collided with the car and was injured.

The incident occured around 12.10pm and the man received minor injuries, the extent of which are not known. He was removed to hospital from the scene of the accident. It is understood that the injured male is an asylum seeker and is living in Atlantic Lodge in the town. Gardaí are investigat­ing the circumstan­ces surroundin­g the accident and have appealed for any witness.
