Nurses set to strike later this month

-

NURSES and midwives at all Irish hospitals will go on strike for 24 hours on January 30 unless the INMO can reach a deal on staffing with the HSE.

The strike will see INMO members withdraw their labour for 24 hours, providing only lifesaving care and emergency response teams.

If a deal can’t be reached there will be further 24-hour strikes on February 5, 7, 12, 13 and 14.

INMO General Secretary Phil Ní Sheaghdha – who is from Ceann Trá in west Kerry – said a strike is the last thing INMO members want.

“The crisis in recruitment and retention has made it impossible for us to do our jobs properly. We are not able give patients the care they deserve,” she said.
