Bright spark Andrew scoops important Monex backing
ANDREW Quinlivan is the recipient of the 2019 Monex Scholarship Program. The UCC commerce student is a former pupil of St Brendan’s College, Killarney, one of three local schools in the Killarney area in line for the annual award – St Brigid’s Presentation Secondary School and Killarney Community College being the other schools.
It is designed to identify students who display academic commitment and dedication to their studies andfacilitates the student’s progression to a full-time undergraduate study at a UCC CUBS (Cork University Business School) course. Each school has played an important role in promoting the program to their fifth- and sixth-year students and assisting the evaluation process.
In his role as UCC Adjunct Professor, Monex CEO Frank Murphy engages with the CUBS faculty and student body. This involvement inspired the concept to initiate a scholarship program.
“The cost of supporting a student in college can be a major burden for their families,” said Mr Murphy.
“We hope our Scholarship Program can assist to alleviate some financial concerns and allow students to focus on their degree. It’s been very encouraging to witness the positive attitude of the scholarship recipients to date and to encounter their determination, work ethic and dedication.”
