Gregorian treat at Saturday Mass

-

THE congregation at evening Mass in St Mary’s Church, Dingle, on Saturday enjoyed the rare treat of a Gregorian chant sung by members of the Men’s Schola Chor Art Rheingau who were on a weekend visit to the town.

The visit came about through Michael Elsmann, the German stained glass artist who has in the past two years carried out repairs on the windows in the stunning Diseart chapel, as well as presenting a new stained glass work which he installed in the building.

The choir members were welcomed by Fr. Jim Sheehy, Chairperson of An Diseart and members of the Dingle New Music Choir and Orchestra.

The full choir from the Weisbaden region in central Germany plan to return to Dingle in June to collaborate with the local choir and to perform a concert which will include works by Johann Sebastian Bach.
