Rathmore walk brings in €3,210 for Hospice
DECEMBER 30 once again saw the Bridge Bar Charity Walk draw the crowds, with 170 people taking on one of three walks of varying length and difficulty.
And through this fine level of participation, more than €3,200 was raised for a very worthy cause, the Kerry Hospice Foundation.
The funds were handed over last Saturday night at the Bridge Bar itself, and one of the organisers, Denis Desmond, was once again delighted at how warmly the public took the event to their hearts ahead of the new year.
“We had three events: one going both ways between the Bridge Bar and the Credit Union; another from Clonkeen Church to the bar; and another one to the Paps Mountains,” he said.
“I’d like to thank all the bus drivers who transported our walkers on the day; everyone who helped out with sandwiches and soups; the participants; those who donated any of the 35 spot prizes to one of our two raffles; Catherine Ann and Eric of The Bridge Bar; and Michelle Cooper-Galvin, who did a brilliant job with the photos.”
